{"data":{"id":"us/16-cfr-1020.3","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"16 CFR 1020.3","heading":"What are the qualifications and duties of the Small Business Ombudsman?","body":"(a) The Chairman will appoint a senior, full-time Commission employee as Small Business Ombudsman. The Ombudsman must:\n(1) Have a working knowledge of the Commission's statutes and regulations;\n(2) Be familiar with the industries and products that the Commission regulates;\n(3) Develop a working knowledge of the regulatory problems that small businesses experience;\n(4) Perform the Ombudsman duties in addition to, and consistently with, other Commission responsibilities; and\n(5) Not work in the Office of Compliance or Office of Hazard Identification and Reduction.\n(b) The duties of the Small Business Ombudsman will include, but not be limited to, the following:\n(1) Developing and implementing a program to assist small businesses that is consistent with § 1020.4;\n(2) Working to expedite Commission responses to small businesses and providing information, guidance, and technical assistance to small businesses;\n(3) Performing a review, at least twice a year, of the Commission's regulatory agenda for actions likely to have a significant impact on small businesses; and\n(4) Pursuing the interests of small businesses by maintaining a working relationship with appropriate officials in the Small Business Administration, in national trade associations that represent small businesses, and in the Commission.","path":["Title 16—Commercial Practices","CHAPTER II—CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION","SUBCHAPTER A—GENERAL","PART 1020—SMALL BUSINESS"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-16.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:24:29Z","sha256":"a4afcfb54f8b3af04862faeddca1d3ec181adcbae9bed9bc3d4c5507e16911f4","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/16-cfr-1020.2","next":"us/16-cfr-1020.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
