{"data":{"id":"us/18-cfr-1304.403","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"18 CFR 1304.403","heading":"Marina sewage pump-out stations and holding tanks.","body":"All pump-out facilities constructed after September 8, 2003 shall meet the following minimum design and operating requirements:\n(a) Spill-proof connection with shipboard holding tanks;\n(b) Suction controls or vacuum breaker capable of limiting suction to such levels as will avoid collapse of rigid holding tanks;\n(c) Available fresh water facilities for tank flushing;\n(d) Check valve and positive cut-off or other device to preclude spillage when breaking connection with vessel being severed;\n(e) Adequate interim storage where storage is necessary before transfer to approved treatment facilities;\n(f) No overflow outlet capable of discharging effluent into the reservoir;\n(g) Alarm system adequate to notify the operator when the holding tank is full;\n(h) Convenient access to holding tanks and piping system for purposes of inspection;\n(i) Spill-proof features adequate for transfer of sewage from all movable floating pump-out facilities to shore-based treatment plants or intermediate transfer facilities;\n(j) A reliable disposal method consisting of:\n(1) An approved upland septic system that meets TVA, State, and local requirements; or\n(2) Proof of a contract with a sewage disposal contractor; and\n(k) A written statement to TVA certifying that the system shall be operated and maintained in such a way as to prevent any discharge or seepage of wastewater or sewage into the reservoir.","path":["Title 18—Conservation of Power and Water Resources","CHAPTER XIII—TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY","PART 1304—APPROVAL OF CONSTRUCTION IN THE TENNESSEE RIVER SYSTEM AND REGULATION OF STRUCTURES AND OTHER ALTERATIONS","Subpart E—Miscellaneous"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-18.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:24:34Z","sha256":"1815e2c3ab1e218184e122832b5055005a6141bf983fefc78b573fb41794fed4","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/18-cfr-1304.402","next":"us/18-cfr-1304.404"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
