{"data":{"id":"us/19-cfr-115.28","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"19 CFR 115.28","heading":"Application for approval.","body":"Each application by a manufacturer or an owner for certification of a container by design type must include:\n(a) Three copies, each no larger than 3 feet by 4 feet, of the customs and TIR/Container plan;\n(b) Customs and TIR/Container plan number;\n(c) Three copies of the specifications which include the following information:\n(1) The name and address of the manufacturer and the owner; and\n(2) A description of the container including the—\n(i) Type of construction;\n(ii) Dimensions;\n(iii) Material of construction;\n(iv) Coating system used;\n(v) Identification marks and numbers; and\n(vi) Tare weight;\n(d) The location and date for inspection; and\n(e) A statement signed by the manufacturer that:\n(1) A container of the design type concerned is available for inspection and approval by the Certifying Authority before, during, and after the production run;\n(2) Notification will be given to the Certifying Authority of each change in the design before adoption; and\n(3) Each container will be marked with:\n(i) The metal plate required in § 115.32;\n(ii) The identification number or letter of the design type assigned by the manufacturer; and\n(iii) The serial number of the container assigned by the manufacturer.","path":["Title 19—Customs Duties","CHAPTER I—U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION, DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY; DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY","PART 115—CARGO CONTAINER AND ROAD VEHICLE CERTIFICATION PURSUANT TO INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS CONVENTIONS","Subpart C—Procedures for Approval of Containers by Design Type"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-19.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:24:40Z","sha256":"fe3016e9b1b51ddac96b22b99a2ce461d6bc4dec75d693c59f30fbac75a95b79","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/19-cfr-115.27","next":"us/19-cfr-115.29"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
