{"data":{"id":"us/20-cfr-418.1245","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"20 CFR 418.1245","heading":"What will happen if you notify us that your modified adjusted gross income for the more recent tax year changes?","body":"(a) If you notify us that your modified adjusted gross income for the more recent tax year has changed from what is in our records, we may make a new initial determination for each effective year involved. To make a new initial determination(s) we will take into account:\n(1) The new modified adjusted gross income information for the more recent tax year you provide; and\n(2) Any modified adjusted gross income information from IRS, as described in § 418.1135, that we have available for each effective year; and\n(3) Any modified adjusted gross income information from you, as described in § 418.1135, that we have available for each effective year.\n(b) For each new initial determination that results in a change in your income-related monthly adjustment amount, we will make retroactive adjustments that will apply to all enrolled months of the effective year.\n(c) We will continue to use a new initial determination described in paragraph (a) of this section to determine additional yearly income-related monthly adjustment amount(s) until an event described in § 418.1235 occurs.\n(d) We will make a new determination about your income-related monthly adjustment amount when we receive modified adjusted gross income for the effective year from IRS, as described in § 418.1140(d).","path":["Title 20—Employees' Benefits","CHAPTER III—SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION","PART 418—MEDICARE SUBSIDIES","Subpart B—Medicare Part B Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-20.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:24:45Z","sha256":"1dae1c2be6d07ef8020db551ad91d083e45c65a458f63383907c81099bc03b47","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/20-cfr-418.1240","next":"us/20-cfr-418.1250"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
