{"data":{"id":"us/22-cfr-62.3","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"22 CFR 62.3","heading":"Sponsor eligibility.","body":"(a) The following types of entities are eligible to apply for designation as a sponsor of an exchange visitor program:\n(1) U.S. local, state, and federal government agencies to include the District of Columbia; and government agencies of any U.S. territories and outlying possessions;\n(2) International agencies or organizations of which the United States is a member and that have an office in the United States; or\n(3) Reputable organizations that are United States Persons.\n(b) To be eligible for designation as a sponsor, an entity is required to:\n(1) Demonstrate, to the Department of State's satisfaction, its ability to comply and remain in continual compliance with all applicable provisions of this part;\n(2) Meet at all times its financial obligations and responsibilities attendant to successful sponsorship of its exchange visitor program; and\n(3) Demonstrate that the organization or its proposed Responsible Officer has no fewer than three years' experience in international exchange.","path":["Title 22—Foreign Relations","CHAPTER I—DEPARTMENT OF STATE","SUBCHAPTER G—PUBLIC DIPLOMACY AND EXCHANGES","PART 62—EXCHANGE VISITOR PROGRAM","Subpart A—General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-22.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:24:49Z","sha256":"d64ac0ecf19906f281f2ca6e6192c1cc7bb34f7dab2f94bdd6f82801b7bba998","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/22-cfr-62.2","next":"us/22-cfr-62.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
