Section 184 authorizes the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to establish a loan guarantee program for American Indian and Alaskan Native families, Tribes, and tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHE). The loans guaranteed under the Section 184 Program are used to construct, acquire, refinance, or rehabilitate one- to four-family standard housing located on Trust Land, land located in an Indian or Alaska Native area, and Section 184 Approved Program Area.
