{"data":{"id":"us/25-cfr-41.11","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"25 CFR 41.11","heading":"Who is eligible for financial assistance under this subpart?","body":"(a) A Tribal college or university is eligible for financial assistance under this subpart only if it:\n(1) Is governed by a board of directors or board of trustees, a majority of whom are Indians;\n(2) Demonstrates adherence to stated goals, a philosophy, or a plan of operation directed to meet the needs of Indians;\n(3) Has a student body that is more than 50 percent Indian (unless it has been in operation for less than one year);\n(4) Is either:\n(i) Accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary of Education to be a reliable authority with regard to the quality of training offered; or\n(ii) Is making reasonable progress toward accreditation according to such agency or association;\n(5) Has received a positive determination after completion of an eligibility study; and\n(6) Complies with the requirements of § 41.19.\n(b) Priority in grants is given to institutions that were in operation on October 17, 1978, and that have a history of service to Indian people.","path":["Title 25—Indians","CHAPTER I—BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS, DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR","SUBCHAPTER E—EDUCATION","PART 41—GRANTS TO TRIBAL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES AND DINÉ COLLEGE","Subpart B—Tribal Colleges and Universities"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-25.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:24:59Z","sha256":"fc7d87c5e179f8c1dd6accfafebfc6df008bc442a8f53cc135c50f11da9b6be2","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/25-cfr-41.9","next":"us/25-cfr-41.13"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
