{"data":{"id":"us/28-cfr-17.12","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"28 CFR 17.12","heading":"Component head responsibilities.","body":"The head of each component shall appoint and oversee a Security Programs Manager to implement this regulation. The Security Programs Managers shall:\n(a) Observe, enforce, and implement security regulations or procedures pertaining to the classification, declassification, safeguarding, handling, and storage of classified national security information;\n(b) Report violations of the provisions of this regulation to the Department Security Officer;\n(c) Ensure that all employees acquire adequate security education and training as required by the provisions of the Department security regulations and procedures for classified information;\n(d) Continuously review the requirements for personnel access to classified information as a part of the continuous need-to-know evaluation, and initiate action to administratively withdraw or reduce the level of access authorized, as appropriate; and\n(e) Cooperate fully with any request from the Department Security Officer for assistance in the implementation of this part.","path":["Title 28—Judicial Administration","CHAPTER I—DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE","PART 17—CLASSIFIED NATIONAL SECURITY INFORMATION AND ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION","Subpart A—Administration"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-28.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:25:14Z","sha256":"505d8e4cfcf1781ab47435cc529e39bb8b7d9cc71f41e32c01e40b638c99b75b","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/28-cfr-17.11","next":"us/28-cfr-17.13"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
