{"data":{"id":"us/29-cfr-1991.101","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"29 CFR 1991.101","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\nAssistant Secretary means the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health or the person or persons to whom the Assistant Secretary delegates authority under CAARA.\nAntitrust laws means section 1 or 3 of the Sherman Act (15 U.S.C. 1 or 3).\nBusiness days means days other than Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal holidays.\nCAARA means the Criminal Antitrust Anti-Retaliation Act, Public Law 116-257, 134 Stat. 1147 (December 23, 2020) (codified at 15 U.S.C. 7a-3).\nComplainant means the covered individual who filed a CAARA complaint or on whose behalf a complaint was filed.\nCovered individual means an employee, contractor, subcontractor, or agent of an employer and includes an individual presently or formerly working for, an individual applying to work for, or an individual whose employment could be affected by, another person.\nDOJ means the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice.\nEmployer means a person, or any officer, employee, contractor, subcontractor, or agent of such person.\nFederal Government means a Federal regulatory or law enforcement agency; or any Member of Congress or committee of Congress.\nOSHA means the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the United States Department of Labor.\nPerson has the same meaning as in 15 U.S.C. 12(a) and includes individuals as well as corporations and associations existing under or authorized by the laws of either the United States, the laws of any of the Territories, the laws of any State, or the laws of any foreign country.\nRespondent means the person named in the complaint who is alleged to have violated CAARA.\nSecretary means the Secretary of Labor.","path":["Title 29—Labor","Subtitle B—Regulations Relating to Labor","CHAPTER XVII—OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION, DEPARTMENT OF LABOR","PART 1991—PROCEDURES FOR THE HANDLING OF RETALIATION COMPLAINTS UNDER THE CRIMINAL ANTITRUST ANTI-RETALIATION ACT (CAARA)","Subpart A—Complaints, Investigations, Findings, and Preliminary Orders"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-29.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:25:20Z","sha256":"815e177326000a8c301f899e55364064b8318e777135d27ec513abbe7d489661","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/29-cfr-1991.100","next":"us/29-cfr-1991.102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
