{"data":{"id":"us/32-cfr-1656.4","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"32 CFR 1656.4","heading":"Alternative Service Office: jurisdiction and authority.","body":"(a) Jurisdiction over the ASW will be transferred from the area office immediately after his classification in Class 1-W to the ASO that administers the Alternative Service Program in the area in which he is assigned to perform alternative service.\n(b) The ASO shall:\n(1) Evaluate and approve jobs and employers for Alternative Service;\n(2) Order the ASW to report for alternative service work;\n(3) Issue such orders as are required to schedule the ASW for job interviews;\n(4) Issue such orders as are required to schedule the ASW for job placement;\n(5) Monitor the ASW's job performance;\n(6) Issue a certificate of satisfactory completion of the ASW's Alternative Service obligation;\n(7) Return the ASW to the jurisdiction of the area office from which he was directed to perform Alternative Service; and\n(8) Perform such other actions the Director may authorize as necessary to administer the Alternative Service Program.","path":["Title 32—National Defense","Subtitle B—Other Regulations Relating to National Defense","CHAPTER XVI—SELECTIVE SERVICE SYSTEM","PART 1656—ALTERNATIVE SERVICE"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-32.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:25:30Z","sha256":"91b363fb254debf038107b86f2bc516da7f47e6dde036170ceb07089e24f20d6","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/32-cfr-1656.3","next":"us/32-cfr-1656.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
