{"data":{"id":"us/33-cfr-148.400","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"33 CFR 148.400","heading":"What does this subpart do?","body":"(a) This subpart prescribes requirements under 33 U.S.C. 1504(b) for the activities that are involved in site evaluation and pre-construction testing at potential locations for deepwater ports and that may:\n(1) Adversely affect the environment;\n(2) Interfere with authorized uses of the Outer Continental Shelf; or\n(3) Pose a threat to human health and welfare.\n(b) For the purpose of this subpart, “site evaluation and pre-construction testing” means studies performed at potential deepwater port locations, including:\n(1) Preliminary studies to determine the feasibility of a site;\n(2) Detailed studies of the topographic and geologic structure of the ocean bottom to determine its ability to support offshore structures and other equipment; and\n(3) Studies done for the preparation of the environmental analysis required under § 148.105 of this part.","path":["Title 33—Navigation and Navigable Waters","CHAPTER I—COAST GUARD, DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY","SUBCHAPTER NN—DEEPWATER PORTS","PART 148—DEEPWATER PORTS: GENERAL","Subpart E—Site Evaluation and Pre-Construction Testing"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-33.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:25:35Z","sha256":"8b3d0b780815f1cbe973e0451888b6fd6935432721b62b1fea90b447b10ebc73","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/33-cfr-148.325","next":"us/33-cfr-148.405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
