{"data":{"id":"us/36-cfr-1008.2","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"36 CFR 1008.2","heading":"Definitions.","body":"The following terms have the following meanings as used in this part:\nIndividual means a citizen of the United States or an alien who is currently lawfully admitted for permanent residence.\nMaintain means maintain, collect, use or disseminate.\nPrivacy Act means 5 U.S.C. 552a.\nPrivacy Act Officer means the Presidio Trust official charged with responsibility for carrying out the functions assigned in this part.\nRecord means any item, collection, or grouping of information about an individual that is maintained by the Presidio Trust, including, but not limited to, education, financial transactions, medical history, and criminal or employment history and that contains the individual's name, or the identifying number, symbol, or other identifying particular assigned to the individual, such as a finger or voice print, or a photograph. Related definitions include:\n(1) System of records means a group of any records under the control of the Presidio Trust from which information is retrieved by the name of the individual or by some identifying number, symbol, or other identifying particular assigned to the individual.\n(2) Medical records means records which relate to the identification, prevention, cure or alleviation of any disease, illness or injury including psychological disorders, alcoholism and drug addiction.\n(3) Personnel records means records used for personnel management programs or processes such as staffing, employee development, retirement, and grievances and appeals.\n(4) Statistical records means records in a system of records maintained for statistical research or reporting purposes only and not used in whole or in part in making any determination about an identifiable individual.\nRoutine use means a use of a record for a purpose which is compatible with the purpose for which it was collected.\nSystem manager means the official designated in a system notice as having administrative responsibility for a system of records.\nSystem notice means the notice describing a system of records required by 5 U.S.C. 552a(e)(4) to be published in the Federal Register upon establishment or revision of the system of records.","path":["Title 36—Parks, Forests, and Public Property","CHAPTER X—PRESIDIO TRUST","PART 1008—REQUESTS UNDER THE PRIVACY ACT"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-36.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:25:44Z","sha256":"a2781273273a357af8f30d0de461c3ca9346920a9b3d5e3474efb345ba9250d0","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/36-cfr-1008.1","next":"us/36-cfr-1008.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
