{"data":{"id":"us/36-cfr-291.13","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"36 CFR 291.13","heading":"Permits.","body":"(a) The Authorized Officer may issue a permit for the collection of a paleontological resource pursuant to an application if the Authorized Officer determines that:\n(1) The applicant is qualified to carry out the permitted activity;\n(2) The permitted activity is undertaken for the purpose of furthering paleontological knowledge;\n(3) The permitted activity is consistent with any management plan applicable to the National Forest System lands concerned; and\n(4) The proposed methods of collection will not threaten significant natural or cultural resources pursuant to 16 U.S.C. 470aaa-3(b)(4).\n(5) Collected materials will not be sold or otherwise used for commercial purposes.\n(b) Permits may be issued at the Authorized Officer's discretion to applicants that provide a complete application, as provided in § 291.14, and meet qualification and eligibility requirements in § 291.15.","path":["Title 36—Parks, Forests, and Public Property","CHAPTER II—FOREST SERVICE, DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE","PART 291—PALEONTOLOGICAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-36.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:25:44Z","sha256":"e160eac3d685b81b54e8fdbe57171b8f92f41c9f55ac4c9531ef7784b5da5060","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/36-cfr-291.12","next":"us/36-cfr-291.14"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
