{"data":{"id":"us/36-cfr-4.11","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"36 CFR 4.11","heading":"Load, weight and size limits.","body":"(a) Vehicle load, weight and size limits established by State law apply to a vehicle operated on a park road. However, the superintendent may designate more restrictive limits when appropriate for traffic safety or protection of the road surface. The superintendent may require a permit and establish conditions for the operation of a vehicle exceeding designated limits.\n(b) The following are prohibited:\n(1) Operating a vehicle that exceeds a load, weight or size limit designated by the superintendent.\n(2) Failing to obtain a permit when required.\n(3) Violating a term or condition of a permit.\n(4) Operating a motor vehicle with an auxiliary detachable side mirror that extends more than 10 inches beyond the side fender line except when the motor vehicle is towing a second vehicle.\n(c) Violating a term or condition of a permit may also result in the suspension or revocation of the permit by the superintendent.","path":["Title 36—Parks, Forests, and Public Property","CHAPTER I—NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR","PART 4—VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC SAFETY"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-36.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:25:44Z","sha256":"a6aed973a5bb36b0cca889aa2b86acde529ae66c6d9a8957ddb8204d6c4829a0","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/36-cfr-4.10","next":"us/36-cfr-4.12"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
