However, we recommend that you spike the extract with an injection standard that contains a known mass of an isotopically labeled compound that is identical to one of the target analytes (except for labeling). This injection standard allows you to monitor the efficiency of the analytical process by verifying the volume of sample injected for analysis.","path":["Title 40—Protection of Environment","CHAPTER I—ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","SUBCHAPTER U—AIR POLLUTION CONTROLS","PART 1065—ENGINE-TESTING PROCEDURES","Subpart L—Methods for Unregulated and Special Pollutants and Additional Procedures"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-40.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:04Z","sha256":"cbba50e78c190044f2f0ebdb705cbadcb1dab09b9e491409a34377ddb4fafe78","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/40-cfr-1065.1109","next":"us/40-cfr-1065.1113"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
