{"data":{"id":"us/40-cfr-35.2204","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"40 CFR 35.2204","heading":"Project changes.","body":"(a) Minor changes in the project work that are consistent with the objectives of the project and within the scope of the grant agreement do not require the execution of a formal grant amendment before the grantee's implementation of the change. However, the amount of the funding provided by the grant agreement may only be increased by a formal grant amendment.\n(b) The grantee must receive from the Regional Administrator a formal grant amendment before implementing changes which:\n(1) Alter the project performance standards;\n(2) Alter the type of wastewater treatment provided by the project;\n(3) Significantly delay or accelerate the project schedule;\n(4) Substantially alter the facilities plan, design drawings and specifications, or the location, size, capacity, or quality of any major part of the project; or\n(5) Otherwise require a formal grant amendment under part 30 of this subchapter.\n(c) Notwithstanding paragraph (a) of this section, changes to Step 7 projects cannot increase the amount of EPA assistance established at the time of the grant amendment.","path":["Title 40—Protection of Environment","CHAPTER I—ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","SUBCHAPTER B—GRANTS AND OTHER FEDERAL ASSISTANCE","PART 35—STATE AND LOCAL ASSISTANCE","Subpart I—Grants for Construction of Treatment Works"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-40.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:04Z","sha256":"c6ac5ae44c6ac88c49d3990648b6ac71f3a68b2c2d965179b16bfcd7e5db45c6","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/40-cfr-35.2203","next":"us/40-cfr-35.2205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
