{"data":{"id":"us/40-cfr-52.478","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"40 CFR 52.478","heading":"Rules and Regulations.","body":"(a) On April 8, 1993, the District of Columbia submitted a letter to EPA declaring that there are no sources located in the District belonging to the following VOC categories:\n(1) Automobile and light-duty truck manufacturing;\n(2) Coating of cans, coils, paper, fabric and vinyl, metal furniture, large appliances, magnet wire, miscellaneous metal parts and products, and flatwood paneling;\n(3) Storage of petroleum liquids in fixed-roof tanks and external floating-roof tanks;\n(4) Bulk gasoline plants and terminals;\n(5) Petroleum refinery sources;\n(6) Petroleum refinery equipment leaks;\n(7) Manufacture of synthesized pharmaceutical products, pneumatic rubber tires, vegetable oil, synthetic organic chemicals (fugitive VOCs and air oxidation), and high density polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene resins;\n(8) Graphic arts systems;\n(9) Storage, transportation and marketing of VOCs (fugitive VOCs from oil and gas production and natural gas and gasoline processing).\n(b) On September 4, 1997, the District of Columbia submitted a letter to EPA declaring that there are no sources located in the District which belong to the following VOC categories:\n(1) Coating of plastic parts (business machines and other);\n(2) Aerospace;\n(3) Shipbuilding and repair;\n(4) Automobile refinishing;\n(5) Industrial wastewater;\n(6) Distillation or reactor or batch processes in the synthetic organic chemical manufacturing industry;\n(7) Volatile organic storage;\n(8) Wood furniture coatings;\n(9) Offset lithography;\n(10) Clean-up solvents.\n(c) On March 24, 2011, the District of Columbia submitted a letter to EPA declaring that there are no sources located in the District which belong to the following VOC categories:\n(1) Auto and Light-duty Truck Assembly Coatings;\n(2) Fiberglass Boat Manufacturing Materials;\n(3) Paper, Film and Foil Coatings;\n(4) Flatwood Paneling.","path":["Title 40—Protection of Environment","CHAPTER I—ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","SUBCHAPTER C—AIR PROGRAMS","PART 52—APPROVAL AND PROMULGATION OF IMPLEMENTATION PLANS","Subpart J—District of Columbia"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-40.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:04Z","sha256":"f8f576d4bed19186599e9f935ee39e3d3b700e74ddaa59d6b2048c17ff8528bc","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/40-cfr-52.477","next":"us/40-cfr-52.479"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
