{"data":{"id":"us/40-cfr-65.82","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"40 CFR 65.82","heading":"Design requirements.","body":"(a) The owner or operator shall equip each transfer rack with either one of the following equipment:\n(1) A closed vent system which routes the regulated material vapors to a control device as provided in § 65.83(a)(1) and (2).\n(2) Process piping which routes the regulated material vapors to a process or a fuel gas system as provided in § 65.83(a)(4), or to a vapor balance system as provided in § 65.83(a)(3).\n(b) Each closed vent system shall be designed to collect the regulated material displaced from tank trucks or railcars during loading and to route the collected regulated material to a control device as provided in § 65.83(a)(1) and (2).\n(c) Process piping shall be designed to collect the regulated material displaced from tank trucks or railcars during loading and to route the collected regulated material vapors to a process or a fuel gas system as provided in § 65.83(a)(4), or to a vapor balance system as provided in § 65.83(a)(3).\n(d) Each closed vent system shall meet the applicable requirements of § 65.143.\n(e) If the collected regulated material vapors are routed to a process or a fuel gas system as provided in § 65.83(a)(4), then each owner or operator shall meet the applicable requirements of § 65.142(c).","path":["Title 40—Protection of Environment","CHAPTER I—ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","SUBCHAPTER C—AIR PROGRAMS","PART 65—CONSOLIDATED FEDERAL AIR RULE","Subpart E—Transfer Racks"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-40.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:04Z","sha256":"9cbe93975c11fe9653bde44c23a88ff8ac72e6e806d671058d70516f14c4e849","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/40-cfr-65.81","next":"us/40-cfr-65.83"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
