If it is in bbl/yr, convert using 42 gal/bbl oil. The AP-42 factor (which accounts for the oil density), in lbs SO2/thousand gal oil, is by oil type:\nOil type AP-42 factor\nDistillate (light) 142 lbs/1,000 gal\nResidual (heavy) 157\nFor all fuel, the units conversion factor is 1 ton/2000 lbs.","path":["Title 40—Protection of Environment","CHAPTER I—ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY","SUBCHAPTER C—AIR PROGRAMS","PART 72—PERMITS REGULATION"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-40.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:04Z","sha256":"1f5ce19de9a0f4c629c34b6f158c10b63bf12a9fb9eb99506263148003e5c0c5","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/40-cfr-appendix-b-to-part-72","next":"us/40-cfr-appendix-d-to-part-72"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
