{"data":{"id":"us/45-cfr-2556.155","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"45 CFR 2556.155","heading":"May a sponsor manage a VISTA project through a subrecipient?","body":"(a) A sponsor may carry out a VISTA project through one or more subrecipients that meet the eligibility criteria of § 2556.100.\n(b) The sponsor must enter into a subrecipient agreement with each subrecipient. A subrecipient agreement must have at least the following elements:\n(1) A project plan to be implemented by the subrecipient;\n(2) Records to be kept and reports to be submitted;\n(3) Responsibilities of the parties and other program requirements; and\n(4) Suspension and termination policies and procedures.\n(c) The sponsor retains the responsibility for compliance with a Memorandum of Agreement; the applicable regulations in this Part; and all applicable policies, procedures, and guidance issued by AmeriCorps regarding the VISTA program.\n(d) A sponsor may not request or receive any compensation from a subrecipient for services performed by a VISTA.\n(e) A sponsor may not receive payment from, or on behalf of, the subrecipient for costs of the VISTA assistance, except in two limited circumstances:\n(1) For reasonable and actual costs incurred by the sponsor directly related to the subrecipient's participation in a VISTA project; and\n(2) For any cost share related to a VISTA placed with the subrecipient in the VISTA project.","path":["Title 45—Public Welfare","Subtitle B—Regulations Relating to Public Welfare","CHAPTER XXV—CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE","PART 2556—VOLUNTEERS IN SERVICE TO AMERICA","Subpart B—VISTA Sponsors"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-45.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:21Z","sha256":"2614cde0e72fcaa850dc3686983df951fa53f6c9165561fd0ae056fc4dd2f85b","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/45-cfr-2556.150","next":"us/45-cfr-2556.160"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
