{"data":{"id":"us/46-cfr-147.67","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"46 CFR 147.67","heading":"Halocarbon fire extinguishing systems.","body":"(a) Each halocarbon cylinder forming part of a clean agent fixed fire extinguishing system must be:\n(1) Retested at least once every 12 years and before recharging if it has been discharged and more than five years have elapsed since the last test; or\n(2) As an alternative, a cylinder conforming to the requirements of 49 CFR 180.209(g) may be given the complete external visual inspection in lieu of hydrostatic testing provided for by that section.\n(b) A halocarbon cylinder must be removed from service if it:\n(1) Leaks;\n(2) Is dented, bulging, severely corroded, or otherwise weakened;\n(3) Has lost more than 5 percent of its tare weight; or\n(4) Has been involved in a fire.\n(c) Flexible connections between cylinders and discharge piping for halocarbon fire extinguishing systems must be renewed or retested in accordance with section 7.3 of NFPA 2001 (incorporated by reference, see § 147.7).","path":["Title 46—Shipping","CHAPTER I—COAST GUARD, DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY","SUBCHAPTER N—DANGEROUS CARGOES","PART 147—HAZARDOUS SHIPS' STORES","Subpart B—Stowage and Other Special Requirements for Particular Materials"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-46.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:22Z","sha256":"f7777ca6dcc539be1963a36cda3e5a5b1b9513ddf5b1499ab4df0d62ac7c4e32","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/46-cfr-147.66","next":"us/46-cfr-147.70"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
