{"data":{"id":"us/46-cfr-154.1335","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"46 CFR 154.1335","heading":"Pressure and vacuum protection.","body":"(a) Each cargo tank must have the following:\n(1) A pressure gauge that:\n(i) Monitors the vapor space;\n(ii) Is readable at the tank; and\n(iii) Has remote readouts at the cargo control station.\n(2) If vacuum protection is required under § 154.804, a vacuum gauge meeting paragraphs (a)(1)(i), (a)(1)(ii), and (a)(1)(iii) of this section.\n(b) The vessel must have at least one high pressure alarm that:\n(1) Actuates before the pressure in any cargo tank exceeds the maximum pressure specially approved by the Commandant (CG-OES); and\n(2) Actuates an audible and visual alarm at the cargo control station, and a remote group alarm in the wheelhouse.\n(c) If vacuum protection is required under § 154.804, the vessel must have at least one low pressure alarm that:\n(1) Actuates before the pressure in any cargo tank falls below the minimum pressure specially approved by the Commandant (CG-522); and\n(2) Actuates an audible and visual alarm at the cargo control station, and a remote group alarm in the wheelhouse.\n(d) At least one pressure gauge must be fitted on each:\n(1) Enclosed hold;\n(2) Enclosed interbarrier space;\n(3) Cargo pump discharge line;\n(4) Liquid cargo manifold; and\n(5) Vapor cargo manifold.\n(e) There must be a local manifold pressure gauge between each manifold stop valve and each hose connection to the shore.","path":["Title 46—Shipping","CHAPTER I—COAST GUARD, DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY","SUBCHAPTER O—CERTAIN BULK DANGEROUS CARGOES","PART 154—SAFETY STANDARDS FOR SELF-PROPELLED VESSELS CARRYING BULK LIQUEFIED GASES","Subpart C—Design, Construction and Equipment"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-46.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:22Z","sha256":"ca97324cb9218c87e02217b1889b6a689c10006e39703e45782f018de88583f9","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/46-cfr-154.1330","next":"us/46-cfr-154.1340"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
