{"data":{"id":"us/46-cfr-401.222","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"46 CFR 401.222","heading":"Temporary Registered Pilots on the Great Lakes.","body":"(a) The Director may, when necessary to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable pilotage service for maritime commerce, issue a Temporary Registration to any person found qualified under this subpart who:\n(1) Holds a valid MMC;\n(2) Meets the requirements of 46 CFR 401.210 (except paragraph (a)(5));\n(3) Has previously held a Full Registration;\n(4) Meets the requirements of 46 CFR part 16; and\n(5) Either:\n(i) Has reached the age of 70 and desires to continue providing pilotage services; or\n(ii) Has retired from pilotage service and desires to provide pilotage services.\n(b) A Temporary Registration is valid for a length of time to be determined by the Director, but not to exceed 1 year from the date of issuance.","path":["Title 46—Shipping","CHAPTER III—COAST GUARD (GREAT LAKES PILOTAGE), DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY","PART 401—GREAT LAKES PILOTAGE REGULATIONS","Subpart B—Registration of Pilots"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-46.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:22Z","sha256":"7dfccf608b262fe7d4d77a3cf24602c72afda1aae6da56110028e40a7b9d6042","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/46-cfr-401.220","next":"us/46-cfr-401.230"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
