{"data":{"id":"us/46-cfr-64.95","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"46 CFR 64.95","heading":"Piping.","body":"(a) Piping, valves, flanges, and fittings used in the pumping system must be designed in accordance with part 56 of this subchapter.\n(b) A cargo loading and discharge header or manifold must—\n(1) Have stop valves to prevent cargo leakage; and\n(2) Be visible to the operator at the cargo pump controls.\n(c) Each pipe and valve in the pumping system that has an open end must have a plug or cap to prevent leakage.\n(d) Each hose connection must be threaded or flanged except for a quick connect coupling that may be specifically accepted by the U.S. Coast Guard in accordance with the procedures in § 50.25-10 of this subchapter.\n(e) A non-return valve must be in the pump discharge if a backflow condition may occur during pumping.\n(f) Any non-metallic flexible hose that is used in the piping system must comply with § 56.60-25(c) of this subchapter.","path":["Title 46—Shipping","CHAPTER I—COAST GUARD, DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY","SUBCHAPTER F—MARINE ENGINEERING","PART 64—MARINE PORTABLE TANKS AND CARGO HANDLING SYSTEMS","Subpart F—Cargo Handling System"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-46.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:22Z","sha256":"74359dd9900a302436614d14dfe4e825a8e190d81bdc6e4d02c345df524ed0d2","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/46-cfr-64.93","next":"us/46-cfr-64.97"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
