{"data":{"id":"us/47-cfr-80.233","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"47 CFR 80.233","heading":"Technical requirements for Automatic Identification System Search and Rescue Transmitters (AIS-SART) equipment.","body":"(a) Automatic Identification System Search and Rescue Transmitter (AIS-SART) equipment must meet the technical requirements of IEC 61097-14 and IMO Resolution MSC.246(83) (incorporated by reference, see § 80.7(b)).\n(b) Prior to submitting a certification application for an AIS-SART device, the following information must be submitted in duplicate to the U.S. Coast Guard, 2703 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE., Stop 7126, Washington, DC 20593-7126:\n(1) The name of the manufacturer or grantee and the model number of the AIS-SART device; and\n(2) Copies of the test report and test data obtained from the test facility showing that the device complies with the environmental and operational requirements identified in IEC 61097-14.\n(c) After reviewing the information described in paragraph (b) of this section, the U.S. Coast Guard will issue a letter stating whether the AIS-SART device satisfies all of the requirements specified in IEC 61097-14.\n(d) A certification application for an AIS-SART device must contain a copy of the U.S. Coast Guard letter stating that the device satisfies all of the requirements specified in IEC 61097-14, a copy of the technical test data, and the instruction manual(s).","path":["Title 47—Telecommunication","CHAPTER I—FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION","SUBCHAPTER D—SAFETY AND SPECIAL RADIO SERVICES","PART 80—STATIONS IN THE MARITIME SERVICES","Subpart E—General Technical Standards"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-47.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:28Z","sha256":"9b9c442ee342d1c85449da0d5157c7c1a2dd1bbb9436d6e6fbcc86b4c67c931c","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/47-cfr-80.231","next":"us/47-cfr-80.251"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
