{"data":{"id":"us/47-cfr-9.24","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"47 CFR 9.24","heading":"Petition regarding additional purposes and functions.","body":"(a) A State or taxing jurisdiction may petition the Commission for a determination that an obligation or expenditure of 911 fees or charges for a purpose or function other than the purposes or functions designated as acceptable in § 9.23 should be treated as an acceptable purpose or function. Such a petition must meet the requirements applicable to a petition for declaratory ruling under § 1.2 of this chapter.\n(b) The Commission shall grant the petition if the State or taxing jurisdiction provides sufficient documentation to demonstrate that the purpose or function:\n(1) Supports public safety answering point functions or operations; or\n(2) Has a direct impact on the ability of a public safety answering point to:\n(i) Receive or respond to 911 calls; or\n(ii) Dispatch emergency responders.","path":["Title 47—Telecommunication","CHAPTER I—FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION","SUBCHAPTER A—GENERAL","PART 9—911 REQUIREMENTS","Subpart I—911 Fees"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-47.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:28Z","sha256":"017c77f285452169331972680de52ca6efef64b0844060b32d3da18088b72f44","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/47-cfr-9.23","next":"us/47-cfr-9.25"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
