{"data":{"id":"us/48-cfr-19.814","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"48 CFR 19.814","heading":"19.814 Requesting a formal size determination (8(a) sole source requirements).","body":"(a) If the size status of an 8(a) participant nominated for award of an 8(a) sole source contract is called into question, a request for a formal size determination may be submitted to SBA pursuant to 13 CFR 121.1001(b)(2)(ii) by—\n(1) The 8(a) participant nominated for award of the particular sole source contract;\n(2) The contracting officer who has been delegated SBA's 8(a) contract execution functions, where applicable, or the SBA program official with authority to execute the 8(a) contract;\n(3) The SBA District Director in the district office that services the 8(a) participant or the Associate Administrator for Business Development; or\n(4) The SBA Inspector General.\n(b) SBA's Government Contracting Area Director will issue a formal size determination within 15 business days, if possible, after SBA receives the request for a formal size determination.\n(c) An appeal of an SBA size determination shall follow the procedures at 19.302.","path":["Title 48—Federal Acquisition Regulations System","CHAPTER 1—FEDERAL ACQUISITION REGULATION","SUBCHAPTER D—SOCIOECONOMIC PROGRAMS","PART 19—SMALL BUSINESS PROGRAMS","Subpart 19.8—Contracting With the Small Business Administration (the 8(a) Program)"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-48.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:29Z","sha256":"9e62e59662ccc6e057b34db2af9b57d06fe78d900578fc3293d827079d211910","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/48-cfr-19.813","next":"us/48-cfr-19.815"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
