{"data":{"id":"us/49-cfr-1333.4","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"49 CFR 1333.4","heading":"Information Requirements for Demurrage Invoices","body":"The following information shall be provided on or with any demurrage invoices issued by Class I carriers:\n(a) The billing cycle covered by the invoice;\n(b) The unique identifying information (e.g., reporting marks and number) of each car involved;\n(c) The following information, where applicable:\n(1) The date the waybill was created;\n(2) The status of each car as loaded or empty;\n(3) The commodity being shipped (if the car is loaded);\n(4) The identity of the shipper, consignee, and/or care-of party, as applicable; and\n(5) The origin station and state of the shipment;\n(d) The dates and times of:\n(1) Original estimated arrival of each car, as generated promptly following interchange or release of shipment to the invoicing carrier and as based on the first movement of the invoicing carrier;\n(2) Receipt of each car at the last interchange with the invoicing carrier (if applicable);\n(3) Actual placement of each car;\n(4) Constructive placement of each car (if applicable and different from actual placement);\n(5) Notification of constructive placement to the shipper or third-party intermediary (if applicable);\n(6) Each car ordered in (if applicable) (i.e., the date and time demurrage first stops accruing with respect to a closed-gate facility);\n(7) release of each car; and\n(e) The number of credits and debits attributable to each car (if applicable).","path":["Title 49—Transportation","Subtitle B—Other Regulations Relating to Transportation","CHAPTER X—SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD","SUBCHAPTER D—CARRIER RATES AND SERVICE TERMS","PART 1333—DEMURRAGE LIABILITY"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-49.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:34Z","sha256":"78e1472f493cf3e026df7eedb87f7c4f666e3bd1c4d1e9c6432110f3d709d897","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/49-cfr-1333.3","next":"us/49-cfr-1333.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
