{"data":{"id":"us/49-cfr-299.607","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"49 CFR 299.607","heading":"Pre-revenue service system integration testing.","body":"(a) Prior to commencing revenue operations, the railroad shall conduct tests of the trainsets throughout the system to—\n(1) Verify mechanical positioning of the overhead catenary system; and\n(2) Verify performance of the trainset, track, and signal and trainset control systems.\n(b) The railroad shall demonstrate safe operation of the system during normal and degraded-mode operating conditions. At a minimum, the following operation tests shall be performed:\n(1) Slow-speed operation of a trainset;\n(2) Verification of correct overhead catenary and pantograph interaction;\n(3) Verification of trainset clearance at structures and passenger platforms;\n(4) Incremental increase of trainset speed;\n(5) Performance tests on trainsets to verify braking rates in accordance with § 299.409;\n(6) Verification of vehicle noise;\n(7) Verification of correct vehicle suspension characteristics;\n(8) Vehicle/track system qualification as defined in § 299.609;\n(9) Load tests with vehicles to verify relay settings and signal and communication system immunization;\n(10) Monitoring of utility supply circuits and telephone circuits to ensure the adequacy of power supplies, and to verify that transient-related disturbances are within acceptable limits;\n(11) Verification of vehicle detection due to shunting of signal system circuits;\n(12) Verification of safe operation of the signal and trainset control system as required by subpart B of this part;\n(13) Tests of trainset radio reception during system-wide vehicle operation; and\n(14) Verification of electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility between various subsystems.","path":["Title 49—Transportation","Subtitle B—Other Regulations Relating to Transportation","CHAPTER II—FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION","PART 299—TEXAS CENTRAL RAILROAD HIGH-SPEED RAIL SAFETY STANDARDS","Subpart F—System Qualification Tests"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-49.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:34Z","sha256":"cad34e677a327ccf2792cf0b53d39b613b670f68fc5de426f158a03c338b7630","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/49-cfr-299.605","next":"us/49-cfr-299.609"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
