{"data":{"id":"us/49-cfr-604.9","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"49 CFR 604.9","heading":"When no registered charter provider responds to notice from a recipient.","body":"(a) A recipient may provide charter service, on its own initiative or at the request of a third party, if no registered charter provider responds to the notice issued in § 604.14:\n(1) Within 72 hours for charter service requested to be provided in less than 30 days; or\n(2) Within 14 calendar days for charter service requested to be provided in 30 days or more.\n(b) A recipient shall not provide charter service under this section if a registered charter provider indicates an interest in providing the charter service set out in the notice issued pursuant to § 604.14 and the registered charter provider has informed the recipient of its interest in providing the service.\n(c) After providing the service, a recipient shall record:\n(1) The group's name, address, phone number, and email address;\n(2) The date and time of service;\n(3) The number of passengers;\n(4) The origin, destination, and trip length (miles and hours);\n(5) The fee collected, if any; and\n(6) The vehicle number for the vehicle used to provide the service.","path":["Title 49—Transportation","Subtitle B—Other Regulations Relating to Transportation","CHAPTER VI—FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION","PART 604—CHARTER SERVICE","Subpart B—Exceptions"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-49.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:34Z","sha256":"654339aea44e76efff2a79af19ffbb628ff04fdbcfdf548729e41ca76ad8deff","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/49-cfr-604.8","next":"us/49-cfr-604.10"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
