{"data":{"id":"us/5-cfr-575.103","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"5 CFR 575.103","heading":"Eligible categories of employees.","body":"(a) Except as provided in § 575.104, an Executive agency may pay a recruitment incentive to an employee appointed or placed in the following categories of positions:\n(1) A General Schedule position paid under 5 U.S.C. 5332 or 5305 (or similar special rate authority);\n(2) A senior-level or scientific or professional position paid under 5 U.S.C. 5376;\n(3) A Senior Executive Service position paid under 5 U.S.C. 5383 or a Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Administration Senior Executive Service position paid under 5 U.S.C. 3151;\n(4) A position as a law enforcement officer, as defined in 5 CFR 550.103;\n(5) A position under the Executive Schedule paid under 5 U.S.C. 5311-5317 or a position the rate of pay for which is fixed by law at a rate equal to a rate for the Executive Schedule;\n(6) A prevailing rate position, as defined in 5 U.S.C. 5342(a)(3); or\n(7) Any other position in a category for which payment of recruitment incentives has been approved by OPM at the request of the head of an executive agency.\n(b) Except as provided in § 575.104, a legislative agency may pay a recruitment incentive to an employee appointed or placed in a General Schedule position paid under 5 U.S.C. 5332 or 5305 (or similar special rate authority).","path":["Title 5—Administrative Personnel","CHAPTER I—OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT","SUBCHAPTER B—CIVIL SERVICE REGULATIONS","PART 575—RECRUITMENT, RELOCATION, AND RETENTION INCENTIVES; SUPERVISORY DIFFERENTIALS; AND EXTENDED ASSIGNMENT INCENTIVES","Subpart A—Recruitment Incentives"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-5.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:23:53Z","sha256":"9da86d9c2d64f4ab01c1190de1effcb7399117e5f66927bc8df5cf0e4af3a9f4","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/5-cfr-575.102","next":"us/5-cfr-575.104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
