{"data":{"id":"us/50-cfr-29.170","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"50 CFR 29.170","heading":"What are my responsibilities if I transfer my right to operate?","body":"(a) If your operations are being conducted under § 29.44, you must notify the Service in writing within 30 calendar days from the date the new operator acquires the rights to conduct operations. Your written notification must include:\n(1) The names and addresses of the person or entity conveying the right and of the person or entity acquiring the right;\n(2) The effective date of transfer;\n(3) The description of the rights, assets, and liabilities being transferred and which ones, if any, are being reserved by the previous operator; and\n(4) A written acknowledgement from the new operator that the contents of the notification are true and correct.\n(b) If your operations are being conducted under § 29.43 or an operations permit:\n(1) You must provide notice under paragraph (a) of this section.\n(2) You remain responsible for compliance with your operations permit, and we will retain your financial assurance until the new operator:\n(i) Adopts and agrees in writing to conduct operations in accordance with all terms and conditions of your operations permit;\n(ii) Provides financial assurance with us that is acceptable to the Service and made payable to the Service; and\n(iii) Receives written notification from the Service that transfer of the operations permit has been approved.","path":["Title 50—Wildlife and Fisheries","CHAPTER I—UNITED STATES FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE, DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR","SUBCHAPTER C—THE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE SYSTEM","PART 29—LAND USE MANAGEMENT","Subpart D—Management of Non-Federal Oil and Gas Rights"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-50.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:26:39Z","sha256":"8a4ac508d6d85503e02086a690221edb34b37b52f903803ccfca4054efc24f49","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/50-cfr-29.160","next":"us/50-cfr-29.171"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
