{"data":{"id":"us/7-cfr-51.1995","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"7 CFR 51.1995","heading":"U.S. No. 1.","body":"“U.S. No. 1” consists of filberts in the shell which meet the following requirements:\n(a) Similar type; and,\n(b) Dry.\n(c) Shells:\n(1) Well formed; and,\n(2) Clean and bright.\n(3) Free from:\n(i) Blanks; and,\n(ii) Broken or split shells.\n(4) Free from damage caused by:\n(i) Stains; and,\n(ii) Adhering husk; or,\n(iii) Other means.\n(d) Kernels:\n(1) Reasonably well developed; and,\n(2) Not badly misshapen.\n(3) Free from:\n(i) Rancidity;\n(ii) Decay;\n(iii) Mold; and,\n(iv) Insect injury.\n(4) Free from damage caused by:\n(i) Shriveling; and,\n(ii) Discoloration; or,\n(iii) Other means.\n(e) Size: The size shall be specified in connection with the grade in terms of minimum diameter, minimum and maximum diameters, or in accordance with one of the size classifications in Table I.\nTable I\nSize classifications Maximum size—Will pass through a round opening of the following size Minimum size—Will not pass through a round opening of the following size\nRound type varieties:\nJumbo No maximum 56⁄64 inch.\nLarge 56⁄64 inch 49⁄64 inch.\nMedium 49⁄64 inch 45⁄64 inch.\nSmall 45⁄64 inch No minimum.\nLong type varieties:\nJumbo No maximum 47⁄64 inch.\nLarge 48⁄64 inch 44⁄64 inch.\nMedium 45⁄64 inch 34⁄64 inch.\nSmall 35⁄64 inch.
