{"data":{"id":"us/7-cfr-51.2832","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"7 CFR 51.2832","heading":"U.S. Commercial.","body":"U.S. Commercial consists of onions which meet the following requirements:\n(a) Basic requirements:\n(1) Similar varietal characteristics, except color when designated as a specialty or mixed pack;\n(2) Mature;\n(3) Not soft or spongy; and,\n(4) Not badly misshapen.\n(b) Free from:\n(1) Decay;\n(2) Wet sunscald;\n(3) Doubles;\n(4) Bottlenecks; and,\n(5) Scallions.\n(c) Free from damage caused by:\n(1) Seedstems;\n(2) Tops;\n(3) Roots;\n(4) Dry sunken areas;\n(5) Sunburn;\n(6) Sprouts;\n(7) Freezing;\n(8) Cracked fleshy scales;\n(9) Watery scales;\n(10) Mechanical;\n(11) Translucent scales;\n(12) Disease;\n(13) Insects; and,\n(14) Other means.\n(d) Free from serious damage caused by:\n(1) Staining;\n(2) Dirt; and,\n(3) Other foreign matter.\n(e) For tolerances see § 51.2837.\n(f) Size. Unless otherwise specified, the diameter shall be not less than 1 1/2 inches.
