{"data":{"id":"us/7-cfr-989.14","jurisdiction":"us","citation":"7 CFR 989.14","heading":"Packer.","body":"Packer means any person who, within the area, stems, sorts, cleans, or seeds raisins, grades stemmed raisins, or packages raisins for market as raisins: Provided, That:\n(a) No producer with respect to the raisins produced by him, and no group of producers with respect to raisins produced by the producers comprising the group, and not otherwise a packer, shall be deemed a packer if he or it sorts or cleans (with or without water) such raisins in their unstemmed form;\n(b) Any dehydrator shall be deemed to be a packer, with respect to raisins dehydrated by him, only if he stems, cleans with water subsequent to such dehydration, seeds or packages them for market as raisin;\n(c) The Committee may, with the approval of the Secretary restrict the exceptions as to permitted cleaning if necessary to cause delivery of sound raisins; and\n(d) No person shall be deemed a packer by reason of the fact he repackages for market (with or without additional preparation) packed raisins which, in the hands of a previous holder, have been inspected and certified as meeting the applicable minimum grade standards for packed raisins.","path":["Title 7—Agriculture","Subtitle B—Regulations of the Department of Agriculture","CHAPTER IX—AGRICULTURAL MARKETING SERVICE (MARKETING AGREEMENTS AND ORDERS; FRUITS, VEGETABLES, NUTS), DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE","PART 989—RAISINS PRODUCED FROM GRAPES GROWN IN CALIFORNIA","Subpart A—Order Regulating Handling"],"source_url":"https://www.ecfr.gov/api/versioner/v1/full/2026-08-25/title-7.xml","current_through":"2026-08-25","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:24:01Z","sha256":"c1610c9e053d8d4558c7e18120854115c48af22082f3bebddae0aa2f2c3488ad","source_id":"us-cfr","stale":true,"prev":"us/7-cfr-989.13","next":"us/7-cfr-989.15"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
