Ala. Code § 27-31E-5: Hiring of Qualified Licensed Contractor to Perform Retrofitting Work on Insurable Property.

(a) To perform retrofitting work on insurable property under the program, a residential property owner may hire any licensed contractor who is capable of performing work that satisfies the standards prescribed by this chapter and rules adopted by the department in conformity with this chapter.

(b) The department may not endorse or otherwise provide preferential treatment to any contractor.

(c) A residential property owner is responsible for any amount owed to a contractor that exceeds awarded grant monies.
