Ala. Code § 45-42-101: Appointment of Superintendent.

The Limestone County Board of Education shall appoint the county superintendent of education for a contract period as determined by the board. This section as amended shall not limit or alter any existing contract, but shall become operative at the earlier of a vacancy in the office or the expiration of the current contract. At the expiration of any contract period, the appointment of the superintendent of education shall be subject to review by the board.
