Ala. Code § 45-45-121.03: Filling of Vacancies; Review of Suspensions or Terminations.

During the period of suspension of any employee, or pending final action on proceedings to review the suspension, demotion, or dismissal of an employee, the vacancy may be filled by the appointing power only by temporary appointment. The personnel board’s power following a review of any suspension or termination hereunder shall be limited to either affirming the suspension or termination or vacating the suspension or termination.
