Ala. Code § 45-51A-33.54: Compensation.

Commencing with the 1995 term, the council shall receive such salary as the council, by resolution or by ordinance, may prescribe. Such salary and the manner in which it is to be paid, shall be established by the council. In no event shall the council set the annual salary of the council below eight thousand five hundred dollars ($8,500) or above eighteen thousand dollars ($18,000).
