Ala. Code § 45-58-120.02: Authority to Allow Employees to Participate in Same Retirement System.

The Shelby County Commission shall allow employees of the Shelby County Legislative Constituents’ Office to participate in the same retirement system as other county employees, as long as the employees remain employed and otherwise meet all other eligibility standards and requirements. The employees shall be paid all salary and wages through the county commission payroll and receive all standard benefits which are approved in writing by a majority vote of the legislative delegation representing Shelby County. All costs associated with providing the retirement, and all other benefits to the employees shall be paid from funds received by the constituents’ office pursuant to Section 45–58–83.66. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the employees of the Shelby County Constituents’ Office shall continue to be appointed, terminated, removed from position, and compensated in the same manner as they were prior to June 9, 1999.
