It is the policy of the State of Arkansas in furtherance of its responsibility to protect the occupational and public health and safety, to protect the environment, and to further the industrial and economic growth of the state: (1) To institute and maintain a regulatory program for sources of ionizing radiation so as to provide: (A) Compatibility and consistency with the standards and regulatory programs of the United States Government; (B) A single effective system of regulation within the state; and (C) A system consonant insofar as possible with those of other states; and (2) To institute and maintain a program to permit development and utilization of sources of ionizing radiation for peaceful purposes consistent with the health and safety of the public.
