(a) (1) Any student attending a public school district classified as being in facilities distress shall automatically be eligible and entitled under the Public School Choice Act of 2015, § 6-18-1901 et seq., to transfer to another school district not in facilities distress during the time period that a district is classified as being in facilities distress. (2) The student is not required to file a petition to transfer by May 1 but shall meet all other requirements and conditions of the Public School Choice Act of 2015, § 6-18-1901 et seq. (b) The resident district shall pay the cost of transporting the student from the resident district to the nonresident district. (c) The nonresident district shall count the student for average daily membership purposes. Amended by Act 2019, No. 933,§ 4, eff. 7/24/2019. Amended by Act 2013, No. 1227,§ 5, eff. 4/16/2013.
