(a) The Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education shall designate a military family education liaison. (b) The military family education liaison shall: (1) Have specialized knowledge related to the: (A) Educational needs of children of military families; and (B) Obstacles that children of military families face in obtaining an education; (2) Serve as a member of the Arkansas Council for Military Children; and (3) Have duties as defined by the Chair of the Arkansas Council for Military Children, which shall include without limitation: (A) Assisting the chair and the council in the administration of this chapter; (B) Facilitating school transitions of children of military families; and (C) Assisting in the orientation and training of public school district military family education coordinators. Added by Act 2021, No. 1031,§ 2, eff. 7/28/2021.
(a) The Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education shall designate a military family education liaison.
(b) The military family education liaison shall: (1) Have specialized knowledge related to the: (A) Educational needs of children of military families; and (B) Obstacles that children of military families face in obtaining an education; (2) Serve as a member of the Arkansas Council for Military Children; and (3) Have duties as defined by the Chair of the Arkansas Council for Military Children, which shall include without limitation: (A) Assisting the chair and the council in the administration of this chapter; (B) Facilitating school transitions of children of military families; and (C) Assisting in the orientation and training of public school district military family education coordinators.
