Ark. Code Ann. § 6-5-804: Health Care Student Summer Enrichment Program for Underrepresented Student Populations

(a) There is created within the Division of Higher Education the Health Care Student Summer Enrichment Program for Underrepresented Student Populations. (b) The program is an intensive six-week program targeting undergraduate students designed to: (1) Increase awareness among racial and ethnic minority undergraduate students of: (A) Common medical problems in underserved communities; and (B) Career opportunities in fields of medicine; (2) Provide participants with a meaningful experience in health-related fields; and (3) Stimulate the interest of racial and ethnic minority undergraduate students in careers in science, medicine, and biomedical research. (c) The program shall be designed to encourage participation by students of diverse backgrounds. Amended by Act 2019, No. 910,§ 1055, eff. 7/1/2019. Acts 2009, No. 709, § 1.

(b) The program is an intensive six-week program targeting undergraduate students designed to: (1) Increase awareness among racial and ethnic minority undergraduate students of: (A) Common medical problems in underserved communities; and (B) Career opportunities in fields of medicine; (2) Provide participants with a meaningful experience in health-related fields; and (3) Stimulate the interest of racial and ethnic minority undergraduate students in careers in science, medicine, and biomedical research.

(1) Increase awareness among racial and ethnic minority undergraduate students of: (A) Common medical problems in underserved communities; and (B) Career opportunities in fields of medicine;

(2) Provide participants with a meaningful experience in health-related fields; and

(3) Stimulate the interest of racial and ethnic minority undergraduate students in careers in science, medicine, and biomedical research.

(c) The program shall be designed to encourage participation by students of diverse backgrounds.
