C.R.S. § 30-15-100.3: Definitions.

As used in this part 1, unless the context otherwise requires:

(1) (a) "Pet animal" means and includes any animal owned or kept by a person for companionship or protection or for sale to others for such purposes.

(b) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection (1), "pet animal" does not include wildlife, livestock used for any purpose or which is estray as defined in section 35-44-101, or animals which are owned or bought and sold through the efforts of those that are licensed, inspected, or both by the United States department of agriculture, the Colorado department of agriculture, or both; however, nothing in this subsection (1) shall be construed to exempt such animals from county control regulations.
