C.R.S. § 6-20-101: Provider disclosure of average charge.

(1) Each hospital licensed or certified pursuant to section 25-1.5-103 (1)(a) shall disclose to an individual seeking care or treatment the individual's right to receive notice of the average facility charge for treatment that is a frequently performed inpatient procedure prior to admission for such procedure; except that a hospital is not required to disclose the potential costs for care or treatment for an emergency prior to emergency care or treatment. When an individual requests the average charge information prior to admission for a procedure, the hospital shall make the information available to the individual.

(2) Other health facilities licensed or certified pursuant to section 25-1.5-103 (1)(a) shall disclose to an individual seeking care or treatment the individual's right to receive notice of the average facility charge for treatment that is a frequently performed procedure prior to ordering or scheduling such procedure; except that a health facility is not required to disclose the potential costs for care or treatment for an emergency prior to emergency care or treatment. When an individual requests the average charge information prior to scheduling a procedure, the health facility shall make the information available to the individual.
