A writ of summons in a civil action naming a correction officer or an employee of the Department of Correction, except where it may be served under the provisions of section 52-64, may be served upon a person designated by the Commissioner of Correction at the correctional facility where the correction officer or employee is assigned who shall act as the agent of the correction officer or employee named in the writ. Service upon such agent shall be deemed to be service upon the correction officer or employee. The provisions of this section shall not be construed as the exclusive or required means of serving a correction officer or employee of the Department of Correction when service cannot be made under section 52-64.
