D.C. Code § 2-1515.04a: Behavioral health screening and assessment requirements.

(a)

(1)

All youth in contact with the Department shall, to the extent that it is not inconsistent with a court order, receive a behavioral health screening and, if necessary, a behavioral health assessment within 30 days of initial contact; provided, that the Mayor may, through rulemaking, require that the behavioral health screening and assessment be conducted within fewer than 30 days of the initial contact.

(2)

As part of the behavioral health screening required by paragraph (1) of this subsection, the Department shall identify youth who are victims of, or who may be at risk for becoming victims of, sex trafficking of children under § 22-1834.

(b)

For the purposes of this section, the term “youth” means an individual under 18 years of age residing in the District and those individuals classified as committed youth in the custody of the Department who are 21 years of age or younger.
