D.C. Code § 50-742: Authorization to participate in regional programs limiting greenhouse gas emissions.

The Mayor is authorized to:

(a)

(1)

Commit the District to participation or membership in any regional governmental initiative, agreement, or compact for the purpose of limiting greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector; and

(2)

Impose a fee on motor fuel sales or distribution; provided, that Maryland or Virginia imposes a state-wide greenhouse gas emissions fee on motor fuel sales or distribution; provided further, that the District fee is no more than that imposed by Maryland or Virginia.
