The Governor may, with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoint a person within the Department to serve as the Deputy Secretary. The Deputy Secretary shall receive an annual salary as set by the Governor and shall be paid out of appropriations to the Department. The Deputy Secretary shall not be subject to the Personnel Code. The duties of the Deputy Secretary shall include the coordination of the State's digital modernization and other duties as assigned by the Secretary.
